Screen time, in your hands.
KidGuard tracks how long your child uses a Windows computer, locks it on the schedule you set and blocks unsuitable content. What your child does on the computer is stored only on your child's computer.
- No account for your child
- Windows 10 and 11
- Parents manage it from a phone on the home Wi-Fi
How KidGuard helps parents
See what your child does on the computer
Open your phone to see how long your child used the computer today, and which programs and websites it was mostly used for.
- See the programs and websites your child uses most.
- Seven days of history, viewable while you are on the home Wi-Fi.
- Only the Windows account you choose as "your child's account" is counted.
The computer locks on time
Set the daily time limit and bedtime once. When time is up, the computer locks; your child gets a warning 5 minutes and 1 minute before.
- Separate limits for each day, with weekends set on their own.
- At bedtime the computer locks and the screen dims gently.
Your child asks for more time, you decide
When time runs out, your child types a reason and asks for more. You approve or decline on your phone, or enter your PIN at the computer.
- Your child types a short reason when asking for more time.
- Loosening the rules at the computer requires the parent PIN.
Block unsuitable websites
The web filter is off by default. When you want it, you turn it on with your PIN on your phone.
- When on, the domain names the computer looks up are sent to Cloudflare (1.1.1.3, its family filter).
- A block list is downloaded from GitHub (fallback: jsDelivr) without any device ID.
- The filter can miss pages or block the wrong ones.
What your child does on the computer stays on your child's computer.
We have no server that receives this data. Below, each kind of information and where it lives.
Programs and websites your child used, and for how many minutes
- Your child's computer (stored here)
- Home Wi-Fi
- Parent's phone (live view)
- Our server (there is none)
Stored only on your child's computer. The parent's phone views it live from the computer over the home Wi-Fi, not through any server of ours. It currently keeps 14 days of detail and 90 days of daily totals.
Website names, when the filter is on
- Your child's computer
- Cloudflare 1.1.1.3 (only when the filter is on)
- Our server (there is none)
Only when a parent turns the filter on, the domain names the computer looks up are sent to Cloudflare 1.1.1.3. With the filter off, nothing is sent.
Cloudflare may keep its own platform logs, which we do not control.
Screenshots and keystrokes
- Your child's computer (not recorded)
- Home Wi-Fi (not sent)
- Our server (there is none)
None. KidGuard does not take screenshots, record keystrokes or record window titles.
Tell your child the computer is managed.
Your child sees the KidGuard icon in the corner of the screen and these messages (shown in Vietnamese; English translation here): "This computer is managed by your parents", "KidGuard does not record what you type", "Data is stored only on this computer".
- The Terms require parents to tell their child that KidGuard is on the computer.
- Your child can ask for more time in their own words.
- Parents keep the PIN; anyone with the PIN can change the rules.
What KidGuard cannot do.
| What | Why you should know |
|---|---|
| Guarantee your child is completely safe | KidGuard is a support tool; it does not replace talking with your child. |
| Stop someone tech-savvy or with Windows administrator rights | They can bypass or remove KidGuard, so let your child use a standard Windows account. |
| Block every unsuitable page without mistakes | The filter can miss pages or block the wrong ones. |
| Monitor adults or other people's computers | For parents, guardians and computers you have the right to manage only. |
Install
- Download and run the installer on your child's computer (Windows administrator rights needed).
- Choose your child's account and set a 6-digit PIN.
- Scan the QR code with your phone on the same Wi-Fi.
Requirements: Windows 10/11 · your child uses a standard Windows account · your phone is on the same Wi-Fi when pairing.
Windows may show a warning when you install.
When you open the installer, Windows may show a SmartScreen warning because the installer is not digitally signed. This is the general warning for software without a signature. Choose "More info", then "Run anyway", if you downloaded it from this page.

No. This version takes no screenshots, records no keystrokes and records no window titles. Privacy Policy, section 3
Does my child's data go to your servers?
What your child does on the computer is stored only on your child's computer. Only a little information leaves the computer; section 5 of the Policy lists it all. Privacy Policy, section 5
What if my child uses another computer or a private browser window?
KidGuard manages only the computer it is installed on. On Chrome and Edge on that computer, the installer turns off private browsing. Privacy Policy, section 7
